Drainage News reports on drainage design, flood risk, sustainable drainage systems, green roofs, soakaways, attenuation and rainwater harvesting across the UK.

How we report

Our stories are built from published primary material: government guidance, regulator announcements, industry news and company releases. We report the facts in our own words and structure, and every story credits and links to the source it draws on.

Attribution

Claims are attributed to the organisation or person who made them. Quotes are kept short, are reproduced only where they were published, and are always credited.

Photography

Images illustrate the subject of each story. They show representative scenes rather than the specific site, scheme or people named in the report.

Bylines

Stories carry the name of the desk that produced them rather than an individual. Each desk follows a defined beat and works to the same house style, so the byline tells you which part of the newsroom is responsible for the story.

Independence

We do not accept payment for coverage. Product and company claims are reported as claims and attributed to the company making them.

Duplicate stories

When several outlets report the same event, we publish one story and credit the original source.

Corrections

If you spot an error, contact the newsroom and we will review and correct the story promptly.
